How Do A/C Systems Work?
Have you ever wondered how exactly your vehicle sucks in hot air from the outside and delivers cool temperatures to the inside of your vehicle? Every vehicle’s air conditioning system is divided into two sides, or systems, known as the high and low side. Held within the high side system is your compressor. The compressor is located at the beginning of the high side and it’s main job is to move the liquid refrigerant through the entire system, sort of like a pump. Then as the refrigerant moves along, it hits the low side. The low side contains an expansion valve. This valve’s job is to restrict the refrigerant’s flow lowering both the pressure and the temperature of the refrigerant. Thus, delivering the amazingly cool air you need on a hot summer day. However, should one of these sides stop working, your entire system will fail, and you will no longer have A/C.
